"Standing in the temple of Your glory, we feel as though in heaven.
O Theotokos, heavenly gate, open for us the door of Your mercy."
During this blessed time, as we prepare for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, we have the opportunity to attend many services and ask for her help and intercessions. The Paraklesis Service, which is traditionally celebrated every evening (Monday - Friday) from August 1st - 15th, is the unique way in which we can ask for her assistance during this season. Practically, that means that we offer up family, friends, and all those who we know of who are in need in prayer. Through the hymnology and scriptural readings in this service we also learn about the life of the Theotokos, and how she is an example to us in our Christian life.
Additionally, the Dormtion of the Theotokos Church in Somerville will be hosting the myrrh-streaming Panagia Kardiotissa Icon from St. George Church in Taylor, PA on Friday, August 10th and Saturday, August 11th. Please see service times and flyer below.
