Parish Announcement

Parents and Families,

We are excited to announce that our parish level St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival will be on Sunday, March 3rd immediately following Divine Liturgy. The Metropolis of Boston Oratorical Festival is Saturday, May 11th, and the 36th National Oratorical Festival will be hosted by the Direct Archdiocesan District and the Parish of Archangel Michael in Port Washington, NY on June 7-9, 2019.

Last year's festival was a tremendous success and a lot of fun as we witnessed the faith and insight of the youth of our community. We look forward to hearing and seeing what everyone has to offer this year!

What happens after our Parish Level Festival?

The top speaker in the Junior and Senior Divisions will advance directly to the Metropolis level. There will be no district level in the Metropolis of Boston this year. The Metropolis of Boston Festival will be held on Saturday, May 11th 2019 at St. Athanasius Church in Arlington, MA. The top speaker in each division is then selected to participate in the Archdiocese Finals, which is hosted by a different metropolis each year.

All eighteen finalists at the Archdiocese Finals participate in a weekend of activities, the highlight of which is the delivery of their speeches on Saturday morning. The Oratorical Festival Scholarship Fund provides college scholarships to the top speakers. Currently, the top three speakers of each division receive college scholarships of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000. This year, each Honorable Mention speaker was awarded $500.
