Youth Bible Study
Our Youth Bible Study meets on Monday evenings 6 - 7 PM in the main office
We are currently reading through the Gospel of Mark, and discussing how Christ's teachings apply to our lives. We are also learning about the world that Christ lived in, His disciples, and the history of our Church.
What do orthodox christians believe about the bible?
The Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God (II Timothy 3:16) and is a crucial part of God’s self revelation to the human race. The Old Testament tells the history of that revelation from Creation through the Age of the Prophets. The New Testament records the birth and life of Jesus, as well as the writings of His Apostles. The Holy Bible also includes a history of the ancient Church and its practices. Therefore, the Scriptures are at the very heart of Orthodox Christian worship, teachings and way of life.
do we Read from Scripture in our services?
Throughout the year we read from the Old and New Testament during our services. All the readings are prescribed based on the time of the year, the liturgical season or feast day. Every Divine Liturgy we hear readings from both the Epistles and the Gospels.
In addition to readings, interwoven in our services are selections from the Psalms. For this reason the Psalter has also been called the Prayer Book of the Church.
